Teachers and other educators building a learning community for the global dimension

ITE Network

In 2007 the Centre for Cross Curricular Initiatives with WWF- UK and Local4Global launched a national ITE network for Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship

The objectives of the network are:

  1. To provide a forum for mutual support and exchange of ideas
  2. To raise the profile of ESD/GC in ITE
  3. To learn from the experience of other sectors e.g. schools, community, business
  4. To develop partnerships for ESD/GC programmes and projects
  5. To provide a platform for joint activities and events
  6. To gather a body of interesting practice and research in the field of ESD/GC practice and ITE
  7. To form a strong base of support from which to influence change towards ESD/GC

This event also launched a publication based on the Global Citizenship Initial Teacher Training scheme developed by London and the South East England Regions (LaSER) - Global Dimension and the Centre for Cross Curricular Initiatives (CCCI), London South Bank University

Making a difference: global citizenship in Initial Teacher Training
Monica Baughen , Bernadette Baughen, Maureen Glackin (Saint Mary’s University College, Twickenham) and Gill Hopper (University of Reading) talked about the initiatives described in the publication.
