Teachers and other educators building a learning community for the global dimension

in London

London Global Teacher Network
This online group provides opportunities for exchange between teachers around global learning practice (such as sustainability, diversity, community cohesion, fair trade, global citizenship and critical thinking) and runs events, and a newsletter. It offers a chance to share information and ideas, learn more about the global dimension in practice from other teachers and to participate in events and gain from professional opportunities available in London.

RISC has been working with the October Gallery "the first London gallery to exhibit cutting-edge contemporary art from all cultures around the planet"

Local 4 Global has initiated these London-based projects towards building a learning community and proactive strategic partnerships. Each has a small budget and the emphasis is on engagement in complex interconnections rather than subject matter. The organisations do not necessarily have the global dimension in the school curriculum as a singular purpose but they demonstrate a facility to further this specific agenda. The work of Local 4 Global is part-funded by DFID under what the department calls ‘enabling effective support’.
Projects will be developed further by March 2008. Opportunities for new projects will be available from April 2009. An expression of interest, and comments on the process, from London-based organisations working locally are welcome at any time.

Madeleine Kennedy-Macfoy is providing mentoring, monitoring and evaluation support for this work. Formerly, Alberta Stevens, of Southern Narrative, contributed to this MM&E process.
