Global Garden Project

Over the past nine months the Primary Geography ITE team at Roehampton University have been planning the creation of a global garden outdoor teaching space. This space will be used as a model garden to support the teaching of education for sustainable development and the global dimension to beginning teachers. So far the process for planning and developing the garden has taken these steps:

1) Proposal for the project agreed between Roehampton and Local4Global

2) Initial plans made for space the grounds where the garden would be located

3) Idea behind and plans for the global garden project shared in a paper given at the UK ITE ESD/GC Network conference held in London in July 2008. See PPT here >>

4) Training session from RISC staff on the best contents and layout for a global garden.

5) Discussion with RISC staff on ways of developing teaching resources based around the global garden.

6) Plans being developed for ways of using the garden in the future for CPD events, delivering INSET to practising teachers.
