Local4Global five-year plan 2008-2013
Local4Global is working towards three outcomes in order to achieve the objectives of DFID's Enabling Effective Support initiative:
- a learning community that informs and influences policy;
- schools and ITE institutions that sustain independently their response to the challenges of the global dimension;
- policy and support that enables schools and ITE institutions to sustain a learning community and champions the global dimension.
The impact will be on the wider ‘education system'.

Strategies 2007-2008
This information is provided to show how the strategies have evolved based on evaluation and further negotiation with DFID.
A. Supporting the embedding of whole-school approaches with a global dimension in selected schools.
B. Organising and facilitating CPD to enable teachers, senior school managers and other educators to explore opportunities, skills and activities to develop and embed a whole-school global dimension.
C. Supporting the embedding of a global dimension in selected ITE institutions and courses.
D. Advocating and encouraging local authority, government and voluntary sector bodies to include an explicit global dimension in their work with teachers, schools and ITE institutions and where needed providing initial support and training to advance through the levels of engagement.
For the thinking behind these approaches see the Levels of Engagement strategy >>.
